- Effects of a Rescuer’s Hand Shape on Chest Compression Quality during Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation using Manikin of Measuring Chest Compression
Abstract Views :199 |

subjects were set to be those who agreed to participate among people who completed the regular course (15 weeks) of
Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. The participants were 75 people and were allowed to participate doubly in two
methods accordingly, total participants are 150 people (Modified Hand-shape Group Metropolitan Health Group (MHG):
75 people, Standardized Group (SG): 75 people). The measurement period was progressed from September 22, 2014 to
September 29. As a result of research, the chest compression accuracy (%) was higher in the SG (89.50%) than the MHG
(76.58%) (p<.001). The outcome of two methods is that the standard method, which was suggested in guideline, is more
effective for the chest compression quality than the modified hand-shape method.

Background/Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify problems with infectious diseases on the basis of the spread of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona virus (MERS-CoV). Methods/Statistical Analysis: For this purpose, the data from the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) were coded on the basis of daily briefing. A total of 186 persons were diagnosed with MERS. The duration of MERS outbreak in South Korea was from May 20, 2015 to July 28, 2015, when the cessation of the disease was first announced. Analysis was performed using SPSS for Windows 12.0 Version. Findings: Of the 186 persons diagnosed with MERS, 36 died, 12 were under treatment, and 138 leave hospital. There were 5 super-spreaders: the index case #1, #14, #15, #16, and #76. The five super-spreaders made more than a half of all the MERS patients infected with the disease. An infectious disease can mean a medical disaster. To prevent such a disaster, it is necessary to make thorough personal hygiene management and institutional program reinforcement. Application/Improvements: It is also necessary to develop systematic management systems that involve planning, implementation, restoration, and prevention with the aim of coping with outbreak of a disaster with an infectious disease. Keywords

20 years old or over. The source of this research is the raw data contained in the Korea Health Statistics 2012: Korea
National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, KNHANES v-3 published by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and
the Korea Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). From the raw data, the respondents who were below 20
years old, and did not answer any of the ten AUDIT questions were excluded, and, finally, 4681 respondents were used for
analysis. The data was analyzed with the SPSS Version 12.0 WIN program. The analysis found that those who belong to the
problematic drinking group seek mental problem counseling 2.4 times as often as those who belong to the normal drinking
group (p<.01), and that those who belong to the alcoholic abuse and dependence group did it 2.8 times as often as those
who belong to the normal drinking group (p<.05). The analysis found that the problematic drinking group and the alcohol
abuse and dependence group were related with mental problem counseling. To solve the problem, it seems necessary to
establish an institution designed to build sound drinking culture and reduce mental problems.

our country's adults. This study was based on the source data of “Korea Health Statistics 2012: Korea National Health and
Nutrition Examination Survey [KNHANES V-3]” by Ministry of Health and Welfare (MW) and Korea Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC). The subjects were composed of 5515 people excluding those aged under 20, missing values,
and non-respondents from the primitive data. An analytical method of this study was made by using SPSS WIN 12.0 Version.
As for the quality of life, the group having some problems with walking in terms of motor ability was about 1.4 times more
likely to have depressive symptoms (p<.05). The group having problems with daily activity was about 2.4 times more likely
to have depressive symptoms (p<.05). The group having moderate levels of psychological anxiety/depression (approx. 5
times, p<.001) and the group having severe psychological anxiety/depression (approx. 14 times, p<.001) were more likely
to be depressed. In terms of the quality of life, activity limitation may cause a problem with daily living and mental health.
It is necessary to develop programs and systems to solve this problem.
